What we do

Thank you for visiting the PPA alumni page. The PPA, which is funded by membership subscriptions and donations, exists to foster an engaged community among past and present students, from whose ranks the PPA’s president, vice-presidents and committee members are drawn. All former students are eligible for membership. All members are treated equally.

We are mindful that private education is a privilege and that it entails commensurate responsibilities. Hence, one of the aims of the PPA is to consolidate the values of College through every stage of adult life, where possible helping members express their compassion, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, understanding and love; encouraging faithful friends with a strong sense of service, who are able to develop and express their opinions guided by firm beliefs and a sense of social justice; and nurturing the confidence, capability and independence of mind that enable alumni to contribute fully to society.

As well as maintaining an archive of memorabilia (currently being digitized), publishing the annual alumni magazine, The Gossip Bowl, managing the extensive database of members and friends, running a constantly updated social media presence, and organising reunions, sports and social events for alumni, the PPA facilitates constructive interactions between alumni and the school (including contributions to careers fairs for current students), assists alumni welfare and provides a useful feedback loop to the College.

There are currently about 3,000 members of the PPA. With the exception of a few gaps in the 1950s and 60s, every leaving year from 1947 has at least one, and in many cases two, year reps. In addition, we have reps for a range of special interests, including sports, CCF and music, as well as seven reps for overseas members in Gibraltar, Hong Kong, South Korea and the East and West Coasts of the USA.

Ours is a lively community, with typically more than two-dozen organized alumni events each year, as well as countless small-group and one-to-one encounters facilitated through our offices. In addition, we are currently embarking on new ventures to facilitate alumni engagement in social ventures and to promote music and entrepreneurship among current students.

If you are an alumnus of the Prior Foundation schools and want to re-engage, whether with the school or just with “lost” friends from your year, please get in touch with our Alumni Relations Manager, Carole Laverick (ppa@thepriorfoundation.com). You don’t have to wait for an invitation and if you miss a formal PPA event it doesn’t mean you can’t come back on your own or with friends. You will always be welcome. But please call Carole first (01225 835353 ext. 244). As you will readily appreciate, with children on site, adults cannot be allowed to wander around unaccompanied, no matter how strong their identification with College.
